About Color Guard.
The Sharyland High School Color Guard is an award-winning program of creative performers. Being involved in this rewarding activity provides our students with the benefits of hard work, time management, self-esteem, friendship, and fun.
Color Guard is a combination of flags, rifles, and props. Students learn dance and other interpretive movements. The Sharyland High School Color Guard is known for it’s outstanding performances, and our members are extremely dedicated in their commitment to excellence.
The Guard has 2 seasons, one that makes us the Color Guard – we are the main visual aspect of the Sharyland Marching Band, and the second where we perform as an individual entity, Winter Guard. Students have multiple opportunities to join. Click the button above to let our directors know of your interest.
Color Guard rehearses and performs with the Sharyland Mighty Rattler Marching Band. The band has over 150 members. The Color Guard serves as one of the primary visual effects for this highly entertaining band. Rehearsals begin in July, and continue through the football and UIL competition season.
Winter Guard concentrates on performing indoors and competing against other schools. Winter guards can be found in high schools, middle schools, some universities, and some independent organizations. The Sharyland Winter Guard competes in two winter guard circuits similar to marching band: a local called Texas Educators Colorguard Association (TECA), and a wider reaching circuit called Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC).
